"Artspaces 2015"

These works address the very fundamentals of painting.
They investigate aspects of the material itself – paint – its opacity, translucency, its chalky dullness contrasted with the shimmer of a high gloss finish. In the process I have dispensed with narrative and symbol and made the material (paint) the subject of the work.
Variations of scale and the repetition of the same size of canvas allow for an infinite number of combinations and permutations. To explore this aspect of the works I will be rearranging the works on a daily basis with the purpose of exploring the relationships between and amongst them and in the process new connections and contrasts will be revealed.

"Out of the Blue" Art Exhibition

This was my first exhibition at the Mairangi Bay Art Center.
Above are the two works that I entered. The First “DJ 2012”
won me 3rd place in the exhibition. It was an enlightening evening, I was able to meet many local artist and get a feel for the type of art the community produces. It was so varied, every thing from photography, prints, oil paintings works in acrylic and sculpture. This show was what they called an members show which included pieces from students and professional artists.

“Past and Current” Art Exhibition

Had a great night on the 10th, I had my first exhibition in 10 years.
I exhibited with another Auckland artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop. Our works had some great Parallels, which gave the show a nice collective feel to it. We didn’t plan for this to happen, which was a nice coincidence. I was very happy with the out come from the evening and was a great way to immerse my self back in to producing paintings.

New Studio Up and Running

We are set up and running at our new location in Mairangi Bay on the Northshore.
I have been reworking some old works that I was not happy with from a year a go. Im starting to find my rhythm and make some good progress with developing new works.

The Kids also got stuck in to some painting as well.
